Physiotherapy
Pre And Post Surgical Rehabilitation.
When we undergo surgery, it affects our movement, strength and control in the surgical area – as well as our daily life and function. The same occurs when we prepare for surgery, where we tend to overuse the non-injured side of our body and can strain or injure it.
Education about where to start and what to do before surgery helps significantly with the rehabilitation process. At Optimise Health, we work with you so you can take the right steps at the right time during your recovery and get back to full function safely and in optimal time.
This means that:
- Pain and discomfort levels are minimised
- Recovery and return to work time is optimised
- You regain your normal level of physical function and motion (as much as possible given the nature of your procedure)
- You know what you should be doing during your recovery, and importantly, what you shouldn’t be doing that may hinder your progress
- Take the right steps before your operation
Our experience in rehabilitation following a variety of different surgeries and procedures allows us to prevent the long-standing problems that may otherwise result. This includes:
- Orthopaedic surgery – bone, ligament, muscular and joint surgery at the hips, thighs, knees, shins, ankles and feet
- Upper limb surgery – surgical repair at the wrists, arms, elbows and shoulders
- Spinal & back surgery – fusions, repairs and replacements at the spine and back
- Gynaecological surgery – post-natal surgery, hysterectomy, cervical and other gynaecological procedures
- Abdominal & thoracic surgery
- Neurological surgery
All of our treatment plans are completely tailored to your injury and specific surgery, as well as your goals, work requirements and commitments. Our Toowoomba physios use gold-standard rehabilitation principles and often review and adjust the plan depending on the pace and progress of your recovery.
