20 Acts Of Kindness You Didn’t Know We Do For You

World kindness week is this week, and it makes us want to celebrate and really focus in on being kind to others. The reality of working here at The Podiatrist, however, is that kindness, genuinity and going above and beyond – for our patients, our non-patients and our team, is already a given. It’s something we have the privilege to see and act on a daily basis – but when thinking about it, the extent of these actions may not be quite so obvious if you’re not here – because we don’t often talk about the things we do to help and support others. We just do them.

Today, we thought we’d do things a little differently and share and celebrate these things, because it’s a true (and rather lovely) representation of who we are at a team, what we stand for, and what you can expect from us when you walk through our doors – or see us outside of work! Here we go:

  1. We support Peak2Park Toowoomba every year
  2. We support the Hike For The Homeless
  3. We’ve been fundraising for Water For The West with socks
  4. We’re doing Movember for men’s health and wellbeing
  5. We give massage vouchers to our patients on their birthdays
  6. We took part in Jeans for Genes day this year
  7. We regularly support the Cancer Council and take part in Daffodil Day
  8. We always look out for the mental health of ourselves and our patients, opening conversations and supporting R U OK Day
  9. We are reducing our paper load with laminate boards, to help us become more environmentally conscious
  10. If you come in on your birthday, you get a free coffee mug and coffee voucher to a nearby cafe
  11. We do the small things – like offering our patients tea or coffee while they wait
  12. We are trying to reduce appointment costs for property owners who are struggling with injury because they are feeding their stock by hand and overloading their bodies
  13. We send movie tickets out at times to say thank you for their kind words and referrals to our clinic
  14. Our physio, Pieter, volunteered at the tennis international over Easter
  15. Our team give tips and advice to our community via radio interviews and media outlets
  16. We provide community education to other health professionals like local physiotherapists in Toowoomba
  17. We sponsor Darling Downs Athletics
  18. We provided foot health advice to the Bunnings team to help them prevent foot pain and injuries
  19. We do monthly random acts of kindness, like sending gift baskets, flowers and coffees to other businesses in our community
  20. We have set up shoe donation drives

As one of our five values is #teamfirst, we also ensure to always look after one another and promote our teams health and wellbeing. From social activities to team BBQ’s and #realtalks, we support one another so that we can best support and care for our patients.

While our list is a great example of our involvements that immediately come to mind, there may be some we’ve missed! If you have suggestions of other ways we can continue to support our community, let us know here.

We’d also like to say a big thank you to our patients and community for your continued support over the past 20+ years – and we look forward to continuing to support you too for decades to come!
